A survey has shown that 63 percent of the Korean public feel content with the Constitutional Court's decision to rule as unconstitutional a special law underpinning the government's plan to relocate the nation's capital.

KBS conducted the poll on 1003 adults shortly after the court's ruling was announced on Thursday afternoon and found that 63.3 percent of respondents supported the decision while 32.2 percent opposed the ruling.

By region, 74 percent of respondents living in Seoul said the decision was a good one, while 61.2 of respondents residing in the Chungcheong Provinces said the ruling was wrong.

Asked about what future steps the government should take on the matter, 68.4 percent said the issue should be finalized through a national referendum while 26.3 percent replied that the capital relocation plan should be scrapped.

A majority of those surveyed blamed the court's decision on the actions of President Roh Moo-hyun, with the remaining respondents singling out the main opposition Grand National Party and the ruling Uri Party.
