Finance Minister Lee Heon-jai said Friday that South Korea needs to adjust its relations with the International Monetary Fund.

Lee, who also serves as Deputy Prime Minister, brought up the issue during the ongoing parliamentary audit, saying that now that the financial crisis of the late 90s and its aftermath are over, new relations should be sought with the global agency.

He added that such relations would include the discussion of issues such as the ongoing presence of IMF regulators in Seoul.

The nation was bailed out of a crippling economic crisis by the International Monetary Fund in 1997.
