Former South Korean President Kim Dae-jung has called on the nation to accept the Constitutional Court's ruling on the capital relocation, emphasizing the need to respect the authority accorded the judicial body in the matter.

Kim made the remarks during a special interview Friday to mark the 50th anniversary of the foundation of the Christian Broadcasting System.

The former president also said that the nation as well as ruling and opposition parties should decide whether to give up or to push for the project after considering public opinion.

The Court on Thursday ruled the government's special law on building a new administrative capital in Chungchong Province as unconstitutional.
