U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell will meet with President Roh Moo-hyun and other top government officials Tuesday on the last leg of his Asian tour.

During his meeting with Roh, Powell will discuss the prompt resumption of stalled six-way talks on North Korea's nuclear issue as well as seek ways to strengthen the South Korea-U.S. alliance.

Ahead of his talks with Roh, Powell will first meet with Unification Minister Chung Dong-young to share views on inter-Korean economic cooperation projects underway, including the construction of an industrial park in North Korea's border city of Gaesong.

After meeting with Roh, the top U.S. official will visit Foreign Minister Ban Ki-moon and discuss the possible resumption of the nuclear talks, South Korea's controversial past nuclear experiments and a recently passed law in the U.S. supporting North Korean human rights.

Powell is expected to wrap up his visit after meeting some 30 South Korean college students at the U.S. Embassy in Seoul.

Before flying to Seoul Monday, Powell made stops in Beijing and Tokyo, where he called on the North to return to the nuclear discussions and voiced confidence that there is still time to resolve the nuclear standoff through diplomacy.
