Hundreds of military engineers and medics will depart for Iraq Tuesday to replace colleagues currently operating in the postwar Gulf nation on a humanitarian mission.

The first batch of 480 non-combat troops will depart for the northern Kurdish region of Irbil to replace a roughly equal number of soldiers who will be returning home after completing their six-month deployment.

The second and final batch of replacement troops will leave for Irbil early next month.
