Plant Week 2004, a weeklong event to promote local companies' overseas plant projects, kicked off on Wednesday in central Seoul.
The Federation of Korean Industries and the Korea Plant Industry Association are the co-hosts of the event, which runs through Saturday.
Fifteen executives from the global plant industry along with government officials are attending the event, including the president of Iranian iron manufacturer Isfahan.
During the event, the participants will disclose their planned orders for plant projects while holding one-on-one consultations with local plant companies.
The government is expected to seek to improve related regulations systems and to provide extended financial support for local plant companies, following President Roh Moo-hyun's recent call for a review of the financial support system related to overseas plant projects.
