South Korea's Ambassador to the United States, Han Sung-joo, has forecast that there will be no significant changes to Washington's policy on North Korea regardless of who wins next week's presidential race.
In a meeting with South Korean journalists in Washington Thursday, Han said both Republicans and Democrats have made North Korea's nuclear issue one of their top priorities to deal with.
Han said that in case Democratic candidate John Kerry becomes the next U.S. president, the formulation of new policies on North Korea would not take much time because North Korea experts from the former Clinton administration are expected to join Kerry's foreign policy team.
On recent South Korea-U.S. relations, Han said their relationship is improving and would continue on an upward curve.
Han said it is hard to tell who will win the U.S. presidential race, citing conflicting results of recent polls.
