Bush, Kerry Deadlocked in Recent Polls (I)
11/2/04
U.S. President George W. Bush and Senator John Kerry are deadlocked in seven national polls of likely voters which were released in the final hours of campaigning for the U.S. presidential race.
Bush and Kerry were separated by 3 percentage points or less - within the margin of error - in nationwide polls by CNN/USA Today/Gallup, the Wall Street Journal/NBC, Fox News and others.
The polls were conducted from last Thursday to Sunday, a period which saw the release of a recent videotape of terrorist leader Osama bin Laden. In the tape, the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks called Bush's policies a threat to Muslims and warned that another terrorist strike is possible.
CBS News said on its website that polling results following the tape's airing were about the same as before it was shown, suggesting it would have little impact on the presidential race.
