French Foreign Minister Michel Barnier says the condition of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat is "very complex, very serious and stable.”

In an interview with the LCI TV Sunday, the French minister dismissed reports that Arafat is in a coma but did not elaborate on details of his conditions or the results of the diagnosis.

With the 75-year-old leader fighting for his life, his top lieutenants are scheduled to fly to Paris on Monday for consultations with the doctors.

Palestinian leaders are currently working to set up contingency plans in the event of Arafat's death.

Meanwhile, Israeli Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz told the Israeli Cabinet Sunday that the military is preparing for possible violence in the event of his death and would send in reinforcements.
