Following the end of the U.S. presidential election, a fresh round of diplomacy is set to kick off to resume the deadlocked six-party nuclear talks.

President Roh Moo-hyun will hold summit talks with relected U.S. President George W. Bush and Chinese leader Hu Jintao late next week on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum in Chile.

Separately, Roh is scheduled to hold another summit with Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi in Japan later this month.
Meanwhile, the deputy secretary general of the National Security Council, Lee Jong-suk, is heading to Washington Tuesday to seek ways to settle the nuclear impasse.
Lee's visit is expected to focus on a proposal Roh made during a telephone conversation with Bush on Friday. During the 10-minute talks, the two leaders agreed to step up joint efforts to ensure that the six-way talks will be resumed at the earliest possible date.
President Roh proposed that the two countries give top priority to resolving the North Korean nuclear issue so as to provide stronger momentum to bring about peace on the Korean Peninsula.
