Korean Air has reportedly become the first carrier to receive U.S. government permission to equip jets with electric stun guns as a defense against terrorists.

Quoting the Transportation Security Administration, the U.S.A. Today said Monday that Korean Air, which had installed TASER guns on at least some of its fleet in 2002, will now be able to use these weapons on flights over the United States.

TASER guns are designed to deliver an electric shock that briefly incapacitates people without injuring them. Last year the TSA decided that stun guns were the only non-lethal weapon that could be used safely on airline flights.
