The Mongolian government has responded negatively to a non-governmental organization's plan to build a North Korean refugee camp in its territory. A Unification Ministry official said Tuesday that a ranking official from the Mongolian government made it clear during a recent visit to Seoul that his country will not support the idea. The Mongolian official reportedly stressed the fact that his country was not a member of the international refugee convention. The Mongolian official was also quoted as saying that not only his country but China as well was opposed to the matter. Meanwhile, a group of Unification Ministry officials have returned from a week-long trip to China and Mongolia after inspecting the situation of North Korean refugees there.
