The prosecution says it plans to file for additional arrest warrants for union leaders in its continuing crackdown on unionized civil servants, who have vowed to stage a general strike on Monday.

The Supreme Public Prosecutors' Office in Seoul said Friday that it would seek arrest warrants for 35 high-ranking officials of the Korean Government Employees' Union.

Earlier this week, the union threatened to launch a general strike on the coming Monday to demand basic labor rights, including the right to collective action. The government has so far been refusing the demand.
