A committee charged with drafting alternative measures to the Constitutional Court ruling against the government's capital relocation plan is to be launched Thursday.

According to the Ministry of Construction and Transportation, the committee will be jointly chaired by Prime Minister Lee Hae-chan and Choi Byung-seon, who formerly headed the committee on pursuing the capital transfer project.

The new joint committee is scheduled to convene a meeting following the launch Thursday to gather public opinion on alternative measures and to discuss ways of managing the committee.

It is planning to formulate a general blueprint by mid-December, after holding public hearings across the nation beginning later this month.

It's also expected to closely consult with the ruling Uri Party's special committee on balanced national development and new administrative capital matters.
