The construction of the first South Korean plant in North Korea's newly built industrial complex at the border city of Gaesong is set to be completed by early next month.

The Korea Land Corporation said Thursday that Seoul-based kitchenware manufacturer Livingart will hold a ceremony marking the completion of its two-story plant and launch operations on December 10.

As a result, the first products by South Korean small- and medium-sized companies are set to roll off the production line within the year.

Meanwhile, three other firms scheduled to operate in the industrial park say they also plan to complete construction of their plants by December 20.

Products manufactured in the industrial complex will be sold not only in South Korea but also in China and some Southeast Asian countries.
