U.N. General Assembly Pres. to Visit Two Koreas

President of the 59th UN General Assembly and Foreign Minister of Gabon, Jean Ping, will visit South and North Korea to discuss pending issues on the Korean Peninsula, including the North's nuclear crisis.

Ping arrived in Pyongyang on Wednesday and held talks with his North Korean counterpart, Baek Nam-sun. Ping is scheduled to arrive in Seoul on November 23rd.

In Seoul, the foreign minister will pay a courtesy call on President Roh Moo-hyun and meet with high-ranking officials to discuss Pyongyang's nuclear issue.

Ping will also meet with Foreign Minister Ban Ki-moon and discuss ways to cooperate on pending U.N. issues, including proposed reforms for the U.N. Security Council.
