South Korea has gained membership to the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), paving the way for expanded business ties with countries on the South American continent.

The Ministry of Finance and Economy says South Korea’s membership will greatly boost trade and human exchanges between South Korea and South American countries.

The IDB, established in 1959, is an international financial institution aimed at supporting economic and social development and regional integration in South America and the Caribbean.
