Unification Minister Chung Dong-young has asked for North Korea to make a "strategic decision" on its nuclear arms program, following last weekend's South Korea-U.S. summit.
Minister Chung made the remarks on Tuesday during a Cabinet meeting in which he reported on the results of the recent summit talks in Chile.
Chung said the achievements of the summit would also contribute to improving inter-Korean relations.
Chung also said the Seoul-Washington summit has provided North Korea with an excellent opportunity to resolve its prolonged nuclear issue, and expressed his hope the North would make "a wise decision" and engage in detente efforts.
