Officials from the two Koreas will meet at the Mount Geumgang resort in the North to discuss technical issues related to the construction of a reunion center for separated families.
An eight-member delegation from the South will be led by the head of the family reunion committee at the Korean Red Cross, Jung Seung-hun. The delegation is scheduled to arrive at the Mount Geumgang Hotel around five p.m. and attend a welcoming dinner with North Korean officials.
The two sides will open full-fledged talks on Friday to work out details on geological and land surveys.
A South Korean Red Cross official said the latest talks will mostly deal with technical issues, including a joint soil analysis, in which South Korea will take the leading role.
The official said the two sides will also discuss water supply needed for the construction and the holding of the center's groundbreaking ceremony at the earliest date possible.
