Two Koreas Agree on Schedules for National Events for 2005

Officials of domestic and overseas civic groups working for unification have agreed on specific schedules for two major national events slated for next year.
During working-level talks in Mt. Geumgang, the participants reportedly agreed to hold a ceremony in Pyongyang in commemoration of the fifth anniversary of the historic inter-Korean summit of June 15, 2000. Another ceremony in memory of the 60th anniversary of the National Liberation Day will be held in South Korea on August 15th next year.
The North's official news agency KCNA announced Wednesday a 3-point joint press release on the inter-Korean national events.
According to the release, the two Koreas and overseas organizations are to set up next year a joint committee to prepare for the Pyongyang ceremony. Each side is also to set up separate committees in their respective countries within the year.
