Some of the 44 North Korean asylum-seekers who stormed the Canadian Embassy in Beijing in September have arrived in South Korea via an unidentified third country, media reports said Sunday.

Globe and Mail, a Canadian daily, said the exact number of defectors who reached South Korea is not known, but cited a source as estimated the figure at about 15 people.

The reports said other defectors are still staying at the Canadian Embassy in Beijing.

44 North Korean escapees including 26 women and 6 children had climbed over the walls of the Canadian Embassy on September 29th.
