Unification Minister Chung Dong-young is attending a ceremony in North Korea's border city of Gaesong to mark the first products to be manufactured in the Gaesong industrial park.

Chung is scheduled to deliver a congratulatory address at the ceremony and later attend a meeting of South Korean lawmakers to seek ways to promote inter-Korean cooperation and exchange.

Some 400 South Korean officials, including 60 legislators from both the ruling and opposition camps, as well as around 50 North Korean officials, are attending the ceremony.

Chung’s visit to the communist state is his first since he took office in July.
