Presidential Secretary on National Security Kwon Jin-ho says he believes ongoing efforts to resolve a standoff over North Korea's nuclear ambition will likely bear fruit early next year.

In a meeting with reporters on Wednesday, Kwon said Washington appeared to be softening its hardline polices toward North Korea while the North is also unlikley to maintain its current boycott of the six-party talks.
