A recent poll conducted by relatives of Japanese citizens kidnapped by North Korea decades ago showed that 82 percent of Japanese lawmakers supported sanctions against the North.

The poll surveyed all 721 members of both chambers of the Japanese Parliament between December 13 and December 20. Out of a total 381 respondents, 82 percent or 313 lawmakers said they favored sanctions against the North. Only one-point-three percent or five lawmakers said they were opposed to placing sanctions against the communist regime.
