Kim Jong-il Says N.Korea Has no Intention of Invading S.Korea

North Korean leader Kim Jong-Il has reportedly declared his state has no plan to invade South Korea and that instead, a reverse threat existed.

Radio Pyongyang, North Korea’s official radio, carried on Saturday Kim’s remarks in a commentary but did not give details, including when and where Kim made such remarks.

According to South Korea’s Yonhap news agency, the North’s broadcaster also said Seoul's plan to enhance its self-defense capabilities was part of preparations for a northward invasion planned by the United States. Radio Pyongyang accused the South of acting like "commandos" carrying out a U.S. plan to invade the North.

The North's media have often said a second Korean war would not be triggered by North Korean provocation but by an attack from the South. However, it is very unusual for them to carry such a statement directly quoting its leader Kim Jong-il.
