N.Korea: US Visit Meaningless Without Cessation of Hostile Policy

North Korea said Friday that dialogue with a soon-to-visit delegation of U.S. lawmakers would be meaningless so long as Washington retains a hostile policy toward Pyongyang.

A bipartisan group of U.S. lawmakers is scheduled to travel to the communist state next week for four days in a bid to revive stalled talks over North Korea's nuclear issue.

Pyongyang's latest statement is causing some North Korea watchers to wonder whether the lawmakers' visit will actually take place as scheduled.

In an online editorial, North Korean authorities claimed that Washington had recently made provocative comments concerning the prospective collapse of the Stalinist regime, and said any dialogue with the U.S. would be useless if Washington failed to discard its "hostile" attitude toward the North.
