According to a high ranking government source, the Korean Peninsula Energy Development Organization (KEDO) is considering to recruit Charles Kartman, Special Envoy for the Korean Peace Process in the United States, as its next Executive Director.

The incumbent Desaix Anderson's term will be over on Feb. 2001.

The source said, "North Korea expressed wishes that the next executive director for KEDO be an American."

KEDO is an international, non-profit organization established to carry out two key provisions of the Agreed Framework negotiated in 1994 by the U.S. and North Korea.

Kartman also holds a post as the U.S. Representative to KEDO.
