North Korea says it will continue to thwart Washington's hostile policy toward the communist country.

The North's official newspaper Rodong Sinmun said on Saturday in a commentary that the military and people will continue to fight against the U.S. schemes for invasion and war towards the North.

The newspaper also accused the U.S. of playing war games on the Korean peninsula with its advanced weapons, saying the move has deepened tensions in the region.

The paper said that it has been the North's consistent policy to enhance and develop amicable relations with all the countries that respect the sovereignty of the communist country. It also said Pyongyang will make efforts to improve relations even with hostile countries once they drop the hostile policies toward the North.
