The government will hold a meeting with related ministries on Monday to devise specific ways and standards to lift a ban on pro-North Korean Internet websites.
A government official said on Sunday that officials from the Unification Ministry, the Information and Communication Ministry and the National Intelligence Service will attend the meeting.
Experts on North Korea have reportedly proposed the government to lift the on certain websites which provide accurate information on the communist country and post non-political contents.
The official said that the government’s basic policy on the issue has already been set by the National Security Council and that the specific ways to implement the policy will be decided in the future discussions.
The Seoul government had cut off some 30 websites promoting North Korean ideology last November to stop South Korean citizens from visiting them, fearing these "pro-North Korea" sites would harm the nation.
