N.Korea Revamps Legal Code involving Warrants, Inheritance

North Korea has revamped its legal code to oblige its security forces to seek warrants before arresting a suspect and to allow for property inheritance.

According to a copy of Pyongyang's new legal code obtained by Seoul's Yonhap news agency, the legal amendments include prohibiting arrest or detention that does not abide by due legal procedures and clearly spell out a rule of 'no arrest without a warrant.'

Meanwhile, North Korea's interitance law, first enacted in 2002, allows the interitance of cars, money, household goods, and houses rented out from the government.

Some of the legal changes reportedly were enacted last year and were published in a book of legal codes in August. A total of 112 legal provisions currently apply to the general public 13 of those were among those recently enacted.
