Beijing has begun to press for the shutdown of casinos in North Korea, utilizing state-run media as a tool in its campaign.

Media reports from Beijing point out that ever since the Chinese government banned gambling, 82 foreigner-exclusive casinos in neighboring countries such as Vietnam and Myanmar have either halted operations or shut down, with the exception of gambling houses in North Korea's Najin-Seonbong district, which are still up and going.

The North Korean casinos are infamous in China as gambling dens for Beijing officials who allegedly squander tens of billions of yuan in government money there every year.
