North Korea’s official newspaper, the Rodong Shinmun, says peace should be guaranteed on the Korean peninsula in order to assure world peace.

The North's offical Korea Central News Agency quoted the newspaper as saying in an editorial that if the United States triggers a war in Korea, the conflict will likely expand to include the Asia-Pacific region.

The paper also accused the U.S. of seeking to wage a nuclear war on the Korean peninsula and launching a pre-emptive attack against the North.

It said the U.S. provocation scheme threatens world peace and security.

The paper said Washington should withdraw its troops and nuclear weapons from South Korea to ease military tensions and eliminate the risk of war.
