The Wall Street Journal says Russia recently stopped North Korea from exporting missile parts to Iran on two separate occasions thanks to the Proliferation Security Initiative led by the United States.

The paper said the PSI has so far been somewhat effective in containing the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and their components, eliciting participation from 60 countries around the world, including Russia.

The paper reported that Russian authorities had stopped in advance North Korea from exporting missile parts to Iran via Russia on two separate occasions in recent months after obtaining related information.

Meanwhile, the paper said key measures proposed by the Bush administration to control global nuclear proliferation, including reforming the International Atomic Energy Agency, have been facing strong protests from even the allied countries.
