South Korea's preparatory committee to take charge of upcoming inter-Korean commemorative events, announced it has officially begun its operations, during a news conference in downtown Seoul on Monday.

Among several events to be hosted by the committee this year are various performances, sports events and a marathon between North Korea's city of Gaesung and South Korea's Munsan, both near the border dividing the two Koreas.
