South Koreans celebrated the outgoing year by ringing in the new year.
At a watch-night bell ringing ceremonony mid New Year Eve, 150 Seoul citizens heard new year messages from Seoul Mayor Ko Kun and other dignitaries on hand. They included TV talent and Seoul City PR delegate Choi Bool-ahm, Park Kyung-joon, designated as a model differently-abled citizen.
Participants acclaimed with news year wishes exchanged with eath other as the clear and resonant ringings reverberated into the nightly skies.
During and before the rinning ceremony, organizers provided performances by farmer's band music, Samulnori groups and others, heightening the festive mood.
