Electricity and communication services are expected to be supplied to the Gaesong Industrial Complex in North Korea by March at the latest.
Unification Ministry spokesman Kim Hong-jae said on Tuesday that communication service suppliers from the two Koreas had met in the North's border city on the 27th and 28th of last month to discuss construction works on the complex in the North.
The spokesman said that during the talks, the two sides had agreed to use optical cable made in North Korea after performance tests had revealed no particular problems.
North Korea launched construction on the northern section of the complex Tuesday, with communication services projected to be provided sometime in March.
On the power supply for the industrial park, Kim said that the construction on the related section in the South has already been completed.
Regarding the northern section, Kim said the South's state-run Korea Electric Power Corporation launched construction on January 24th, with power supply expected to begin in February.
