Japan's ruling Liberal Democratic Party reportedly plans to introduce a clause that calls for strengthened support for North Korean escapees in a party-sponsored bill on North Korean refugees aimed at exerting pressure on Pyongyang.

The legislation says that in cases deemed unharmful to Japan's national interests and security, Tokyo would accept escapees from the North as well as send those who have asked for protection by Japanese embassies in foreign countries to Japan or a third country.
