North Korea has exalted Iran as an "anti-imperialist state."

The North's Korean Central Broadcasting Station said in its commentary on Friday, which was the 26th anniversary of Iran's Islamic Revolution, that Iran has walked the road of anti-imperialism and independence since it brought down its U.S.-friendly regime in 1979.

In the commentary, the North also said that the U.S. called Iran part of "an axis of evil" and interfered with Iranian domestic affairs under the pretext of a nuclear issue. The North said that however, Iran is well prepared against the evil purposes of the U.S.

The remarks came as both North Korea and Iran are at odds with the United States over their nuclear weapons programs. Additionally, the North suspended its participation in the six-way nuclear talks indefinitely and on Thursday declared that it possesses "defensive" nuclear weapons.
