A series of ceremonies set to be held at North Korea's Gaesong Industrial Complex have been delayed amid rising concerns that Pyongyang's recent nuclear declaration could hamper inter-Korean economic cooperation projects.
An official of Shinwon, a South Korean clothing company, said Thursday that his firm had postponed a fashion show and a ceremony marking the completion of its plant in the industrial park, originally set to take place next week.
The official said his company had to cancel next week's ceremonies since the North has yet to send invitations to some two hundred South Korean guests who were to participate in the events. The official said North Korea did not send an official request for the postponement.
The company is hoping to reschedule the ceremonies for around April.
Meanwhile, the YMCA Green Doctors, a South Korean volunteer medical group, announced that it has decided to delay an opening ceremony of its clinic in the Gaesong Complex, which was set for next Tuesday.
