Chinese communist party official Wang Jiarui reportedly held talks with North Korea's second highest ranking official Kim Yong-nam for over three hours on Sunday and discussed the communist state's protracted nuclear standoff.
Russia's Itar-Tass news agency reported Monday from Pyongyang that considering the extended hours of the meeting, the two sides are believed to have exchanged seriously conflicting opinions.
The media reportedly quoted foreign experts stationed in the North Korean capital as saying that the Pyongyang official continued to pass the buck to Washington, citing its hostile policy for the delay in the six-way nuclear talks, while the Chinese envoy tried to persuade his counterpart to seek to gradually mend ties with the U.S.
Itar-Tass also quoted China's official Xinhua news agency as saying that Beijing had suspended all energy supplies to Pyongyang following the North's declaration of its nuclear arms possession earlier this month.
