North Korea's pilot-phase industrial complex, jointly developed by South Korea near the North's border city of Gaesong, will likely have its electricity power supply turned on early next week, a South Korean goverment official said Tuesday.

The official said power line installation works will be completed on Saturday, to be followed by testing over the next three to five days.

The newly installed power lines will be relaying electricity from a power station in the South to provide manufacturers in the complex with a stable power supply. The companies are currently relying on fuel-powered generators for their electricity supply.

South Korea's state-run Korea Electric Power Corp plans to eventually provide some 100,000 kilowatts of electricity to the complex.
