Korea Land Corporation says it has decided to provide aid in the form of fuel briquettes for residents of North Korea's border city of Gaesong.

The state-run organization said on Friday that it held a ceremony to announce the aid earlier in the day in Gaesong.

Korea Land plans to deliver 5.54 million units of briquettes and ten-thousand units of heaters to Gaesong by mid-March in cooperation with the Ministry of Unification.

A Korea Land official said that the latest fuel aid to the North would make a significant contribution to the inter-Korean economic project currently underway to develop a Gaesong industrial complex.
