Kim Jong-il Visits Russian Embassy in Pyongyang

North Korean leader Kim Jong-il has reportedly visited the Russian Embassy in Pyongyang.

The North's official KCNA News Agency said Wednesday that Kim visited the embassy at the invitation of the Russian ambassador and received a medal marking the 60th anniversary of Russia's World War II victory.

The report added that Kim was accompanied by Prime Minister Park Bong-ju, Chief of the Armed Forces, Kim Young-choon and Vice Foreign Minister Kang Suk-joo.

Moscow has sent out invitations to the leaders of the two Koreas, the United States, China and other countries to attend celebrations in Russia on the occasion of the May 9th World War II Victory Day, which is a major holiday and the biggest diplomatic event in the country.

Attention is being drawn to whether the reclusive North Korean leader will accept Moscow's invitation and attend the celebrations.
