North Korea's official newspaper, the Rodong Shinmun, has positively evaluated the recent launching of a joint overseas commitee with South Korea that aims to push forward with agreements reached during a historic South-North summit in June, 2000.

The paper said in an editorial, the event was "historic" as it may eventually lead to building harmony, cooperation and peaceful reunication of the two Koreas, adding that the North Korean people supported the joint committee's establishment.
