North Korea has accused Japan of having designs on the abundant marine and natural resources around the islets of Dokdo.

The Korean Central TV in Pyongyang claimed Wednesday that Japanese right-wingers are trying to make it appear that the islets is a region of conflict in order to internationalize the issue. It accused Japan of having an eye on newly discovered gas beds as well as well-known marine resources abundantly dispersed around Dokdo.

The television station also claimed that historically, geographically and legally, the islets are Korean territory.

The reports also said that Japan's territorial ambitions had reached a new peak and that such 'criminal acts' would not be tolerated.
