Most Americans Oppose Possible U.S. Attack on N. Korea

A recent poll shows a majority of Americans oppose a possible U.S. attack on North Korea to stop Pyongyang from developing nuclear weapons.

According to a joint survey by the Washington Post and the ABC network, 78 percent of the respondents said they were against the United States attacking and eradicating the North Korean regime.

Seventy-seven percent of those surveyed also said they were against a possible U.S. bombing of the North's military facilities, while 20 percent said they supported it.

More people said they supported than opposed Washington's providing the North with financial incentives to disarm.

When asked whether they perceived the communist regime as a threat to peace, 74 percent said they did while 23 percent said they did not.
