The North Korean embassy in Moscow says the Pyongyang regime will continue to build up a defensive nuclear arsenal for the defense of its ideology and internal structure.
Russia's Itar-Tass news agency said the embassy's remarks came on Thursday as a response to statements by U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
The paper quoted the embassy as describing the recent statements by Rice as "indiscreet." Rice had called for for the resumption of six-party talks without withdrawing her earlier statements in which she called the North a "tyrant state."
The embassy said the U.S. approach contradicts the logic of things and is ultimately forcing the North reject the six-party talks.
The embassy also said Rice has once again revealed the hostile intentions of Washington and its desire to isolate the North at any cost.
In this light, the embassy went on to say, the shoring up of the communist regime's defensive nuclear arsenal is justified a thousand times over.
