U.S. and Chinese veterans shared their Korean War experiences in Beijing Thursday. The meeting between six American and five Chinese veterans was the first such occasion since the Korean War ended in 1953.

Wearing civilian clothes, the former soldiers greeted each other warmly at a Red Cross office.

Washington hopes the meeting will help U.S. efforts in finding the whereabouts of missing Americans.

Harley Coon spent 33 months as a prisoner of war in North Korea. He said he has no ill feelings but does have love for the Chinese people and hopes that one day they have world peace.

China entered the Korean War in late 1950 and fought on North Korea's side.

U.S. officials estimate some eight thousand-100 U.S. servicemen are missing from the three year war.
