WFP Resumes Food Provision to N. Korea's Jakgandgo Province

The World Food Program has unveiled plans to resume its provision of food aid to North Korea's Jakangdo Province in the wake of a two-month suspension.

The U.N. food agency said Monday that the decision came after North Korean officials notified the agency early this month that they would lift Pyongyang's ban on monitoring of food distribution in the mountainous province.

After the North banned the entry of U.N. officials to the province on its Northwestern border with China last October, the World Food Program temporarily suspended its food provision from December to February of this year.
