A local trade firm has resubmitted a request to the government to import stamps issued by North Korea depicting Korea's easternmost islets of Dokdo.

Gapo Company said Tuesday that it had presented to the Unification Ministry the necessary paperwork to allow the sale of the stamps in South Korea.

The company had asked the government in April last year to allow the import of the stamps, but the government rejected the company's application, citing the anti-communist National Security Law.

Attention is being drawn to how the government will decide on the company's import application this time around since it comes amid a renewed dispute between Seoul and Tokyo over the islets sparked by Japanese claims of sovereignty.
